80th LAMP Session
Awareness of law is as indispensable as the air we breathe to ensure a peaceful existence
The Legal Awareness Monitoring Project (LAMP), organised by CG3 – Connecting Governed, Governing and Governance, was successfully conducted on 12 January 2026 at Sacred Heart Higher Secondary School, Mylapra, from 10:00 AM onwards. The programme was organised with the objective of inculcating legal awareness among students and fostering a sense of social responsibility, in line with the theme “Awareness of law is as indispensable as the air we breathe to ensure a peaceful existence.” The audience was constituted with around 800 participants, including students, parents, teachers, and members of the school community
The programme commenced with a prayer song by the School Choir, which set a solemn and meaningful tone for the event. This was followed by a welcome address by Smt. Jimmy Light C. Joys, Principal-in-Charge, Sacred Heart Higher Secondary School, who warmly welcomed the dignitaries, teachers, students, parents, and organisers, and highlighted the relevance of legal awareness in student life.The Lighting of the Lamp, accompanied by the CG3 Anthem, symbolised the illumination of young minds through legal knowledge.The Chairman’s Address was delivered by Dr. K.P. Kylasanatha Pillay, Senior Advocate and Mentor, CG3, who emphasised the role of law in shaping responsible citizenship and appreciated the enthusiasm shown by the school community. The programme was formally inaugurated by Justice (Retd.) M.R. Hariharan Nair, who delivered an inspiring and motivational address. His speech effectively connected constitutional values with everyday life, encouraging students to be aware of their rights and duties.A Special Address was delivered by Rev. Fr. Adv. A.D. Jose Kalavila, who spoke on the ethical and moral dimensions of law and its role in promoting justice and harmony in society.The Orientation Session was handled by Smt. Mirash Alexander, Advocate, Pathanamthitta, who provided clear and age-appropriate insights into the legal system. Her session was highly interactive, and she patiently addressed questions raised by students on topics such as fundamental rights, cyber safety, juvenile justice, and legal remedies. Parents also actively participated by raising practical questions related to children’s rights and legal responsibilities, which enriched the discussion.
The programme was further enriched by a felicitation address by Mr. Joshy K. Mathew, PTA President, who appreciated the initiative and acknowledged the importance of such programmes for both students and parents. A dedicated floor participation session, managed by the students, was a major highlight of the programme. Students confidently raised thoughtful and relevant questions, demonstrating keen interest and understanding. Parents also actively engaged in the discussion, reflecting the programme’s effectiveness in reaching the wider school community.
The feedback session, presented by Aksa Shyju Thomas, Student Representative, reflected the positive impact of the programme and the appreciation of the students for the opportunity to interact directly with legal experts.The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Adv. K.S. Ashok Kumar, who expressed gratitude to the dignitaries, school authorities, organisers, students, parents, and all those who contributed to the successful completion of the programme. The event ended with the National Anthem.
Overall, the programme was conducted in a well-organised manner and was marked by active participation from students and parents, meaningful interaction, and effective dissemination of legal awareness, thereby achieving its intended objectives.
